Money-Saving Tips to Create a Beautiful Bouquet

Have you ever given thought about your wedding bouquet? Colors, style, and beauty all matter! Recently, I met with Lori Cowie, owner and chief creative officer of Frances Florist in Douglasville, Ga. In addition to teaching me how to create my own wedding bouquet, Lori gave some helpful tips for brides to save money on theirs…

  • To cut costs, choose flowers that are in-season at the time of your wedding. You can surf the Internet to discover what blooms during the season of your big day.
  • Select flowers from nature, and ask your floral designer to arrange them.
  • From January 1 – February 28, flowers are triple in price. As a result, if you’re planning your wedding during this time, be prepared to pay a higher cost.
  • Make sure that your florist is reputable and has experience. In the long run, this may save you money and headaches. Don’t hesitate to ask for references.

In addition, when you visit your florist, bring in the color swatches of your bridesmaids’ dresses and your favorite ribbon. This will help the florist select colors and flowers that suit your motif. If you have a particular flower in mind, be sure to share that information with them. On the other hand, if you’re open to the insights of your florist, allow them to share their interpretation. For example, Lori informed me that the new trend is adding green flowers to your bouquet. Once she showed me green roses and mums, I was convinced that this trend may be a good one for me!
