DOUGLASVILLE: Bobby Tillman's family working to prevent future tragedies
News

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -- It's been nearly a year since 18-year-old Bobby Tillman was beaten to death outside a Douglasville house party. During one of 11Alive's live morning editorial meetings this week, a viewer asked for an update on case.

Tillman's family is currently working to prevent similar tragedies in their city. His mother and aunt have written a resolution asking Douglasville residents to notify police 24 hours before any planned teenage parties.

They believe this will allow officers to be in the area and on stand-by in case they are needed.

The idea actually came from an officer working the night of Tillman's deadly beating. The officer said had police known about the party, they would've been closer and been able to respond sooner.

The resolution comes up for consideration on Monday.

If it's passed in Douglasville, Tillman's mother hopes to take it to state lawmakers.
