Rite Aid to Hold Free Diabetes Clinics

ATLANTA -- November is American Diabetes Month, and a number of Atlanta-area Rite Aid pharmacies will hold free Diabetes Solutions Days during the week of Nov. 1.

An annual tradition, these clinics are a great chance for patients and caretakers alike to brush up on the latest information from Rite Aid's clinical pharmacy team and the American Diabetes Association, a Rite Aid national strategic partner.

Clinics will take place at the following locations from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.:

New Douglasville Medical Office Open to Patients

DOUGLASVILLE, GA -- Kaiser Permanente members who live or work in Douglasville now have a more convenient location to receive health care.

The Douglasville Medical Office (6875 Douglasville Boulevard, Suite A, Douglasville, 30135), which is Kaiser Permanente's first location in Douglas County, opened to patients this month.

The 7,000 square foot facility is a part of Kaiser Permanente's ongoing initiative to improve access to health care for its 230,000 members in Georgia. Staffed by physicians of the Southeast Permanente Medical Group, the Douglasville Medical Office offers adult medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, radiology and lab services. It also has an on-site pharmacy.

Physicians on staff include Renuka Dobbs, M.D. (internal medicine), Loreen Doyle-Littles, M.D. (pediatrics) and Norman Crossing, M.D.

Cobb & Douglas Public Health Officials Encourage Vigilance in Rabies Prevention

MARIETTA, GA -- In light of a recent confirmed case of rabies in the City of Marietta, Cobb & Douglas Public Health officials are encouraging individuals to take immediate steps to reduce contact with infected animals.

The case involved a stray kitten that came in contact with humans. The individuals who were exposed received medical attention.

Four WellStar Hospitals Make Quality Honor Roll

MARIETTA, GA -- WellStar Cobb, Douglas, Kennestone and Paulding Hospitals in Austell, Douglasville, Marietta and Dallas, respectively, have been named to the Georgia Hospital Association's Partnership for Health and Accountability Quality Honor Roll. The WellStar practices are four of 51 hospitals in Georgia to be placed in the Presidential category, one of the highest on the list.

The honor roll is based on clinical data provided by the federal Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services, which administers the nation's Medicare and Medicaid programs. The data was collected from April 2009 to March 2010.
