Arbor Place to host PROBE College Fair

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -- A national college fair is on its way to Douglas County.

Arbor Place Mall will host the PROBE College Fair from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17.

About 70 colleges, universities and technical colleges will be represented at the fair. All Douglas County high school students and their parents are welcome to attend.

Admission is free, but pre-registration is required. To sign up, visit the PROBE College Fair website and click "register now." Students must bring their completed registration pass in order to get into the fair.

Eat out, raise money, help kids

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -- You can do your part this week to curb Georgia's high school dropout rate. All you need to do is eat at one of your favorite restaurants.

On Thursday, Aug. 23, proceeds from restaurants across the state will be donated to Communities in Schools of Georgia, an organization that encourages young people to complete their education and succeed in life.

The sixth annual Dine Out for Kids event hopes to exceed last year's total of $30,000 for children in the state.

Communities in Schools, which has chapters across the country, provides mentoring and after-school services, including parent education, literacy programs and youth leadership opportunities.

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -- Douglasville's first Ashley Stewart store will open at Arbor Place Mall this weekend with three days of fanfare.

Ashey Stewart has a strong national following among curvy women who like their clothes trendy, bold, comfortable and flattering, according to a spokesperson for the brand.

The Ashley Stewart fun will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10 with a Divas' Night Out. Women are invited to visit the new store for free consultations on hair, makeup and nails.

On Saturday, Aug. 11, the store will hold a fall fashion show, hosted by Face of New York's 2012 Full Figured Fashion Week Cover Model Search winner Venessa DeLaRosa. The show will start at 2 p.m.

Finally, beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12, the store will host an afternoon tea party. All customers dressed in white will receive free fashion styling tips.

All Ashley Stewart kickoff events are free and open to the public.

Braves stars to host baseball camp

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -- Two Atlanta Braves superstars will host an MVP Baseball Camp at South Paulding High School next month.

The one-day camp will be held on Saturday, July 14. The cost is $95, which includes lunch, a scrimmage game and autographs with the two camp heads, Brian Jordan and Otis Nixon.

ATLANTA -- It's back! Starbucks' wildly popular Frappuccino Happy Hour event will return this Friday, May 4.

The coffeehouse chain will hold Frappuccino Happy Hour every day through Sunday, May 13, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. All sizes of the Frappuccino frozen drinks are half-price during Happy Hour.

Starbucks has brought back its two coconut drinks -- the Mocha Coconut Frappuccino and the Coconut Crème Frappuccino -- for summer. It also debuted two brand new flavors on Tuesday.

The Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino is "an indulgent blend of rich mocha sauce, vanilla syrup, Frappuccino chips, our signature Frappuccino Roast coffee and milk blended with ice and topped with delicious chocolatey whipped cream and chocolate cookie crumbles."
