Douglasville Kennel Club to Host Major Dog Show

DOUGLASVILLE, GA -- Residents of the Atlanta area will have the opportunity to see quality examples of almost 160 breeds of dogs at the Douglasville Kennel Club dog show on Friday, Oct. 22.

The show, which is expected to host around 2,000 dogs, will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with Best in Show judging to be held around 4:00 p.m. It will be held at the Atlanta Exposition Center South (3850 Jonesboro Road, Atlanta, 30354).

The Douglasville Kennel Club show is the first of a three-day cluster of shows held in conjunction with the Atlanta Kennel Club and the Newnan Kennel Club. This group of shows is among the most important in the Southeast and attracts exhibitors from across the United States, as well as Canada, Mexico and South America.

The judges in the competition come from as far away as Sweden to render their expert judgements of the dogs presented.

Charity Softball Tournament to Benefit C.O.P.S.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA -- On Friday, Oct. 8 and Saturday, Oct. 9, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office will host its first annual charity softball tournament.

Activities will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The tournament and fun family activities will be held at the Boundary Waters Park (5000 Highway 92/166, Douglasville, 30135). Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Georgia chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.).

The 15 softball teams that will be playing represent law enforcement agencies from numerous metro Atlanta jurisdictions. Many of the agencies have lost one of their own in the line of duty. These officers play to remember their fallen heroes of the badge and to assist in supporting the programs that benefit the deceased officers' families.

The public is invited to attend these tournaments and participate in the available activities.


Women's Entrepreneurial Exchange to Host Career Fair

DOUGLASVILLE, GA -- On Wednesday, Sept. 29, the Women's Entrepreneurial Exchange (WEE) will conduct its annual career fair at the Douglasville Downtown Convention Center (6701 Church Street, Douglasville, 30134).

Representatives from many major and local businesses will be present at the fair, which will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Also in attendance will be several county and state organizations that aid people in finding resources to increase their chances of employment in a tough job market.
