2 clerks shot at Douglasville gas station | Crime
DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -- Two clerks suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being shot by robbery suspects at a Douglas County gas station.
It happened Tuesday at around 12:15 a.m. at the RaceTrac in the 5800 block of Fairburn Road in Douglasville.
Douglasville Police Lt. Mark Edwards said several armed suspects are on the run after the shooting. Police did not immediately know how much money or merchandise they took, if any.
Edwards said the suspects shot one male and one female clerk. Several customers witnessed the shooting and were interviewed by responding officers.
The injured clerks were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
"The entire RaceTrac family was saddened to hear of the incident involving two of our team members late yesterday evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with our team members, their family and friends at this time," RaceTrac CEO Allison Moran said in a statement. "The safety of our team members and guests is our number one priority and we are working closely with local authorities in their investigation. We consider our team members family, and we take their safety and well-being very seriously."
The Douglasville Police Department is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to arrests and convictions in this case. RaceTrac added an additional $5,000, bringing the reward to $10,000.
"We take these kind of crimes seriously, and that's why we are offered that reward," Lt. Edwards said. "We expect to make some arrests soon."
