Car break-ins under investigation at Sweetwater Park

LITHIA SPRINGS, Ga. -- Douglas County Sheriff's officials hope to talk to two persons in interest in a recent spate of car break-ins at Sweetwater Creek State Park.

Five cars were illegally entered at the Lithia Springs park on Thursday, Jan. 1. The thieves took credit cards, debit cards, checks and other miscellaneous items. Douglas County Sheriff's Lt. Glenn Daniel said it appears to be an isolated incident.

Two people were caught on camera at the park around the time the crimes occurred. Daniel said they may not have anything to do with the break-ins, but police still want to talk to them.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at 770-920-4903.

Daniel reminded visitors to Sweetwater Park and any other park in the Atlanta area to lock their car doors, put valuables out of plain sight and be aware of their surroundings at all times.
