Charity Softball Tournament to Benefit C.O.P.S.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA -- On Friday, Oct. 8 and Saturday, Oct. 9, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office will host its first annual charity softball tournament.

Activities will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The tournament and fun family activities will be held at the Boundary Waters Park (5000 Highway 92/166, Douglasville, 30135). Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Georgia chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.).

The 15 softball teams that will be playing represent law enforcement agencies from numerous metro Atlanta jurisdictions. Many of the agencies have lost one of their own in the line of duty. These officers play to remember their fallen heroes of the badge and to assist in supporting the programs that benefit the deceased officers' families.

The public is invited to attend these tournaments and participate in the available activities.

C.O.P.S. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides resources to assist in rebuilding the lives of surviving families and co-workers of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. In addition, C.O.P.S. provides training to law enforcement agencies on survivor victimization issues and educates the public of the need to support the law enforcement profession.
